This Privacy Policy explains what information the Flority mobile app collects, what is sent to Wells for Zoë, what remains on your phone, and how third-party services used by the app process information.

1

Who operates Flority

Flority is an application used by Wells for Zoë to collect and manage information relating to its projects. User accounts are created by Wells for Zoë rather than through the Flority app.

2

Information sent to Wells for Zoë

When you use Flority, the app can send the following information to Wells for Zoë’s own servers:

  • Your Flority user account and associated account identifier.
  • Photos, including the GPS position and time associated with the photo.
  • Polygons representing site boundaries recorded by walking the boundaries with GPS
  • Answers and other information entered into forms in the app.

Information sent to Wells for Zoë is transmitted over encrypted connections. Wells for Zoë does not sell this information and does not use it for advertising. Flority contains no advertisements and does not use the advertising ID.

3

Information stored on your phone

  • Each photo taken through Flority is also saved to your phone’s gallery, in the Pictures/Flority folder, and remains there after it has been uploaded.
  • Unfinished drafts and other information that has not yet been uploaded remain on your phone, including after you sign out, until they have been sent.

4

Location information

Flority uses your device’s location only while the app is in use. Location is used for the position of photos and for recording polygons.

When you record a polygon, Flority continues to track your position while the phone screen is off. A notification is displayed for as long as polygon recording is taking place.

Flority does not request or use ‘all the time’ or background location permission.

5

Private photos

The Flority camera includes a Private switch. Photos taken while Private is enabled are marked as private when uploaded and are hidden from the maps on the Flority web platform.

6

Maps and Mapbox

Flority uses Mapbox software to provide maps, including offline map downloads. When Mapbox services are used, Mapbox receives information including the device’s location and map usage, together with device and app identifiers. Mapbox processes this information for its own purposes under its own privacy policy.

Mapbox’s terms require map usage data sharing to be enabled by default and allow users to opt out. You can turn this off in Flority under Profile by disabling “Share map usage data with Mapbox”.

Flority’s About screen provides further information and a link to Mapbox’s privacy policy.

7

Crash reports and diagnostics

Crash reporting through Sentry is being set up and is not active in the current test version of Flority. When it is enabled, crash and diagnostic reports will be sent to Sentry and hosted in Sentry’s EU region in Frankfurt, Germany.

A crash or diagnostic report may contain:

  • The phone model.
  • The operating system version.
  • The Flority app version.
  • The steps taken before the problem occurred.
  • Messages from Flority’s own application logs, which may include identifiers for uploads, forms and projects.

Crash and diagnostic reports do not contain:

  • Photos.
  • Location information.
  • Your account name.
  • Stored IP addresses.

The purpose of crash and diagnostic reporting is to help keep Flority working reliably. The legal basis for this processing is legitimate interest. When enabled, Sentry retains event data for its standard retention period, currently 90 days, under its data processing agreement.

8

Permissions requested by Flority

Flority requests the following permissions where required by the device operating system:

  • Camera – to take photos.
  • Location (precise and approximate) – to record the position of photos and to record polygons, only while the app is in use.
  • Notifications – to show upload progress and the notification displayed during polygon recording.
  • Storage (Android 9 and older only) – to save photos to the phone’s gallery.

9

Permissions and capabilities that do not require a user prompt

Depending on the device and operating system, Flority may use the following capabilities without presenting a separate permission prompt:

  • Internet and network state.
  • Wi-Fi state.
  • Keeping the phone awake while work is being carried out.
  • Restarting scheduled uploads after a device reboot.
  • Running a foreground service.

10

Google Play permissions and declarations

Flority uses Android foreground services for functions that need to continue while the app is not visible. The relevant Google Play declarations are as follows:

  • Foreground service – location: used because polygon recording continues with the screen off. Google Play requires a reason for this use and a short demonstration recording of the feature.
  • Foreground service – data sync: used for uploads and offline map downloads. Google Play requires a reason for this use and a short demonstration recording of the feature.
  • Battery optimisation exemption: Flority may request exemption where necessary because long polygon recordings could otherwise be stopped by the phone’s battery-management system. This is subject to Google Play’s policy review.

Flority does not request background location permission. It also does not request access to the device’s entire photo or video library.

11

Data safety summary

For Google Play’s Data safety disclosure, Flority’s processing is summarised as follows:

Data Processing Sharing
Precise location Collected Shared with Mapbox unless the user opts out
Photos Collected Sent to Wells for Zoë
User IDs / account information Collected Sent to Wells for Zoë
Crash logs and diagnostics Collected when crash reporting is enabled Shared with Sentry

Data sent over the internet is encrypted in transit.

Flority does not sell user data and does not use data for advertising.

12

Account deletion

Flority user accounts are created by Wells for Zoë rather than directly in the app. If you want your Flority account and associated information deleted, please contact Wells for Zoë using the account-deletion contact method provided on the Flority website.

Account deletion requests are handled by Wells for Zoë because Wells for Zoë creates and manages the accounts.

13

Flority uses third-party services where necessary to provide maps and, when enabled, crash and diagnostic reporting. These services process information under their own terms and privacy policies.
